As trusted advisors within the industry, we specialise in illumination for roadway, pathway and car park applications, with exclusive own-brand solutions made in New Zealand, for New Zealand. With a complete team of innovators, designers, engineers and collaborators, we have forged a reputation in the market as New Zealand's urban and infrastructure lighting specialists.

With Ibex, there are no off-the-shelf imported products, typically over-engineered to meet the specification requirements of other markets. Our luminaires are designed, built and tested in our world-class manufacturing and laboratory facility in Tauranga, ensuring our products meet and exceed the specific requirements of our local market.

The green light – designed and built here

New Zealand companies and organisations are committed to the best environmental and sustainable practices, and our home-grown products help them achieve their crucial green goals.

- Customers who choose products designed and built in New Zealand benefit from:

- Less reliance on freight, ensuring lower fuel use and emissions and decreased delivery costs;

- Lower freight volumes – the freight volume of our raw components is substantially less than imported finished products;

- Sustainable finished product packaging, using cardboard and other recyclable materials where possible; and

- The power to choose suppliers wisely – and carefully check their green credentials.

Our Product Development Specialist, Mike Peterson, says, ‘Good suppliers are crucial. Sometimes, when you import a product, you don’t know where it’s made or who is making it. By manufacturing our final products in New Zealand, we can see it, measure it and control it.’

Reducing plastic use goes beyond packaging. For instance, in many of our lighting modules, we have replaced plastic with alternative materials, such as endlessly recyclable aluminium. Our commitment to sustainability includes:

- Electrical efficiency – reducing the power burden with luminaires that yield as much light as possible from the power they use;

- Extending the lifecycle of our products with luminaires rigorously tested to the highest standards in our own laboratory and;

- Products designed and built for New Zealand’s demanding environment.

Helping projects run on time

Making products in New Zealand allows us to eliminate usual lead times and offer crucial agility when changes are needed. We have less reliance on international suppliers, meaning customers can protect their budgets from global delivery delays.

Head of Marketing Albert Smith explains: ‘Whatever the project, we work to eliminate delay time. We hold significant stock here in New Zealand, so if extra product is needed or a repair is required, we can do all that without relying on an overseas supplier.

‘Our customers can expect delivery of fit-for-purpose product in days, rather than months.’

Controlling the end-to-end process

We take ownership of the design, product supply and installation, offering a concept-to-completion approach that makes our company stand out in New Zealand.

In other words, we make it easy for customers.

With second-to-none technical experience and compliance knowledge, we are involved at every stage of the process.

Albert adds, ‘With our experience in handling compliance requirements and overseeing a project from concept to completion, we alleviate logistical requirements for the client and create efficiency. This approach ensures we have visibility of timelines, expectations and requirements early on, allowing our team to formulate bespoke solutions and activate the supply chain much earlier.’

Supporting our New Zealand workforce

And, of course, our home-grown strength brings further crucial benefits to New Zealand: creating jobs and developing skills that nurture our unique Kiwi ingenuity.

With our firm belief that onshore manufacturing is the future of the industry, we’re building a brand that New Zealanders can be proud to be a part of.
